Narrative meaning is established through form, movement, and relationship before the introduction of detailed illustration.

PRS: The Method

Pre-Representational Storytelling (PRS) is a pedagogical approach that prioritizes form, movement, and relationship over literal depiction. By introducing narrative meaning through abstract geometry, we invite the child to interpret meaning through their own developmental lens, fostering a deep, quiet connection with the story before detailed illustration intervenes.

PRS Methodology

The Primacy of Abstract Form

Narrative developments from the interaction of movement, shape, and space. By removing detailed illustration, we invite children to explore the foundational grammar of storytelling.

Design Ethos

The Discipline of Silence

A museum-shop ethos guides our production. High-contrast forms and intentional whitespace allow the young mind to project meaning onto the page without overstimulation.

Intention

The Competent Reader

Our work respects the child's intelligence. We do not provide conclusions, but instead create sophisticated visual environments that evolve with the reader's growing perception.

"Clarity of form invites the child’s imagination to discover narrative meaning through the relationship of shapes and space."
